About Hector:
Born and raised in San Diego, Ca. Hector Angel (Hex) was raised with 3 brothers and one sister being the second oldest out of his siblings. He grew up around his grandfather who was a painter and carver, and an uncle who was also an artist. At 5 years old he was first inspired by a birthday card his uncle sent him with a hand drawn envelope. He began by drawing Pokémon cards and copying cartoons from tv. In the 3rd grade Hector won his first art contest between all of the teachers and students of his elementary school which inspired him to keep practicing. He started drawing lettering in middle school and he would charge $20 dollars to draw names in graffiti and cursive for his friends to put on the front of their binder. By the end of the middle school there were dozens of his friends carrying his work around the school! He first attempted to draw a portrait to pay respect to his dying great grandfather in the 9th grade and soon fell in love with drawing live portraits of people, mostly faces. He continued to drawing graffiti and calligraphy as well as portraits of his friends and family but had dreams to go to college to become an architect. After high school he decided to buy a tattoo kit to try tattooing because so many of his friends suggested he do so. Hex specializes in black and grey realism and lettering.
